What counts as a deal?
Two kinds of fares set off our alerts. Mistake fares (also called error fares) happen when an airline or its systems publish a price by accident: a missing fuel surcharge, a currency mix-up, a decimal in the wrong place. They can be a fraction of the normal cost and usually disappear within hours. Anomaly deals are legitimate sales and price drops that fall well below a route's typical price, without the accident. Both are worth knowing about; we watch for both.
A fair word of caution on mistake fares
Airlines are not always required to honor a genuine mistake fare, and once in a while a ticket gets cancelled after purchase. That is the nature of error fares everywhere, not something unique to us. Our advice is the same as every seasoned deal-hunter's: book the flight, but wait until the ticket is confirmed before you buy non-refundable hotels or make unchangeable plans. We flag when a fare looks like a likely mistake so you can weigh the risk.
What you control
Your alerts are yours to shape. From your settings you can set a price ceiling, limit results to nonstop or a maximum number of stops, choose a trip length, pick travel months or exact departure dates, filter by cabin (economy through first), and narrow to specific airlines. Set it once and the deals that reach you already fit.
